Description.
Wing length
2mm
in male and
2,1mm
in female. Acrostichal setae in six rows; dorsocentral setae 0+3 (anterior only a little longer than the acrostichals). fronto-orbital plate grayish to orbital setae; face grayish. Mesonotum brown with small yellow patches at hind corner. Calypter white with margin black; fringe black. Halteres yellow.
Male genitalia (

Epandrium with 14 to 17 spines at hind corner; surstylus subtriangular with 3 spines and a row of setae; hypandrium V-shaped, without apodeme; basiphallus subcircular, with two extensions apically, the longer about twice the length of the shorter and with a spherical gap basally; mesophallus enlarged basally; distiphallus forming two sclerotized tubules, slightly up-curving; ejaculatory apodeme short, enlarged apically.
Female genitalia (

Ninth abdominal sternite sub-rectangular; four pairs of marginal setae, the central pair longer than others; ninth abdominal tergite ending before the apex of the ninth abdominal sternite, with one pair of long setae apically; cercus elongated with four tactile sensilla apically; spermatheca rounded spermatic duct sclerotized in apex; eggs guide subtriangular; ventral receptacle T-shaped.

Remarks.
The mesophallus and the distiphallus of this species are slightly wider than in
Spencer (1963)
description, but we consider that the shape of the aedeagus, especially in the extension of the basiphallus, and the first flagellomere are identical to
Calycomyza richardsi
. The aedeagus of this species are similar to
Calycomyza colombiana
Sasakawa
, but they can be distinguished by the first flagellomere, that is conspicuously pubescent in
C. richardsi
, and the number of spines of the epandrium and surstylus.
