This primarily eastern species was found for the first time in Oregon , Umatilla Co., 9 mi SE Echo, above Umatilla River, ex wood Populus trichocarpa Torrey & Gray collected 6­V­87, emgd. 11­V to 8­VI­87, RLW (ODAC, OSAC, & J. Muona coll.). The wood was from trees infested with Agrilus granulatus populi Fisher (Buprestidae) . Of interest is that Muona (2000) recorded it “bred from poplar” in Idaho , then later ( Muona 2002 ) stated that the genus is “absent from western regions”. Hylis irvinei Muona . Muona (2000) listed two specimens from 5 mi NW of Newberg , Washington Co., as being deposited in RLWE . In fact, these are paratypes in the ODAC .
