Distribution and habitat.
Kentropyx calcarata
is widespread in eastern Amazonia, extending through gallery forests into the northern part of the Cerrado, with a disjunct distribution in the Atlantic Forest, occurring in

Venezuela

). In Amazonia it is restricted to the west by the Negro and Madeira river basins (both sides) and the upper Orinoco river (

Kentropyx calcarata
is semi-arboreal and diurnal, inhabits primary and secondary terra firme and
varzea
forests, always associated with sunny places (e.g. clearings, forest edge and creeks), where it is found mainly on the ground, on trunks and limbs of fallen trees, and amid low vegetation (climbing to heights of 3–4 meters—Hoogmoed 1973;
