World distribution. Argentina and Chile . Chilean distribution. Only recorded from La Araucanía region ( Fig. 103 ). Altitudinal range. This species inhabits native forests in precordillera ecosystems at 1500 m .a.s.l. Biology and notes. Valdiviomyia edwardsi is associated with native forests. Systema Dipterorum ( Thompson & Pape 2010 ) only describes this species distribution in Argentina , however, Etcheverry (1963) determined that it can also be found in Chile . Thus, this species has been reclassified as native to Argentina and Chile . All biological and ecological aspects of this species are unknown. Conservation status. DD; AOO = 2 km 2 and one locality (or subpopulation).
