H. paracasalis was described from forest litter and compost at Potchefstroom. The smooth rounded epistome and long narrow genital shield with a single pair of setae place this species in Karg's (1979) subgenus Hypoaspis ( Holostaspis ) . This species is obviously rare and unlikely to be of any significance in regulating populations of H. destructor .
