Distribution
. The species is widely distributed in the Old World tropics, reaching the
Southern
Palaearctic region on the border of its distribution. This is a new record for
Iran
.
Hosts
.
Dirhinus anthracia
was reared from a wide range of hosts, such as
Tephritidae
and synanthropic flies (
Calliphoridae
,
Sarcophagidae
,
Muscidae
) and it may also be a hyperparasitoid of
Lepidoptera
(
Pyralidae
,
Zygaenidae
, Bombycidae and
Noctuidae
) and even
Orthoptera (Acrididae)
through
Tachinidae
. Five other
Dirhinus
species have already been recorded from
Iran
(
Table 1
).
