( Figs. 8–14 ) Diagnosis. Therophilus onodyi sp. n. can be distinguished from other members in the genus by the following combination of characters: head entirely melanic; wings hyaline. Mesosoma black and orange; metasoma entirely melanic dorsally. This species is similar to T. anomalus Bortoni & Penteado-Dias, 2015 . Material Examined. Holotype DCBU435184 Brasil-CE, Guaramiranga , APA da Serra de Baturité. 16.xi.2018 , Malaise 1—seca. Approximate coordinates: S4°16’19.9” W38°56’24.5” . C.P. da Silva col.” Description. Holotype female (DCBU435184). Body length 4.20 mm . Syntergite 2+3 length: 0.69 mm , width: 0.53 mm . Ovipositor length 3.79 mm . Antenna with 30 flagellomeres. Head entirely black ( Fig. 10 ) except for orange mandibles and palpi. Interantennal space with one barely exerted keel-like carina. Propleuron black. Pronotum, mesopleuron and metapleuron bicolored, black ventrally and orange dorsally ( Fig. 8 ). Mesoscutum and scutelum orange ( Fig. 13 ), notauli meeting and sculptured in all its extension. Propodeum entirely black ( Fig. 13 ). Sclerite between coxae and metasomal foramen complete and narrow. Fore leg and mid leg orange, except for coxa which is bicolored, black on proximal 2/3 and orange after. Hind leg mostly melanic except for proximal portion of coxa, dorsal and apex of femur and ventral portion of tibia (orange), base of tibia with white annulum. Metasoma mostly melanic dorsally, laterally, and ventrally, except for first three terga laterally which are light yellow ( Fig. 8 ). First metasomal tergum striate on proximal 2/3, with two not well defined carinae that extend to 1/3 of tergum. Wings evenly hyaline ( Fig. 12 ). Fore wing cubital cell open, RS+M vein incomplete and tubular in less than 1/4 its length. Ovipositor longer than metasoma, shorter than body length. Male. Unknown Biology. Specimen collected in Caatinga (xeric shrubland). Etymology. Species named in honor of Helena Carolina Onody our colleague and specialist in Ichneumonidae .
