The genus Euzonus contains a single species known from Baltic amber. Giebel (1856) cites Euzonus zonatus with Menge as the species’ author and as the only species included in the genus Euzonus . He clearly referred to Menge’s description of E. collulum , listing the correct page number of the first description. Scudder (1886b:17) and Hoffman (1969) listed only collulum as a member of the genus. However, Scudder (1891: 239) listed two species in the genus Euzonus , attributing Euzonus zonatus to Giebel, 1856. The type specimen of Euzonus collulum may be preserved in Menge’s collection that was apparently deposited in the Westpreußische Provinzialmuseum, Danzig (Gdańsk, Poland, see Bronn 1853 –1856: 623). Dunlop (2006: 168) reported that Menge’s material was dispersed after the second world war in several collections.

The family name Lysiopeltidae, as used by Scudder (1886b, 1891), is an error for the family name Lysiopetalidae (= Callipodidae ) and is not an available name (ICZN, Article 19).
