Current taxonomic position: Neptunea despecta ( Linnaeus, 1758) ; placed in synonymy with Neptunea despecta [ Buccinidae ] by A. Adams (1864): 107. Locality is Japan. Lamarck (1822) recognized the priority of Pennant’s name.
