Material examined. HNHM AF /5366 two adult ex., AF /5368 one adult and one praeadult ex. French Guiana, Montagnes de Roura, primary forest. Coll. T. Pavlíček, 0 2 January 2009.

Diagnosis. L. 115–135 mm, D. 4–5 mm. No. segments 82–128. Color striped, dark brown-violet dorsally and pale ventrally. Clitellum ½15–½27 saddle-shaped. Tubercles long bands on 19–27. Muscular gizzard in 6, calciferous glands composite-tubular, eight pairs in 7–14. Lateral commissures in 7–9, oesophageal hearts in 10–11. Testes and funnels in 10, 11, in perioesophageal testis sacs. Spermathecae folded tube-shaped, six pairs with openings in 5/6–10/11. Genital setae 1.7 mm long, 0.075 mm in diameter, spear-shaped with 10–12 crescentic indentations ( Fig. 11 )

Remarks. M. (Mp.) duodenarius with six pairs of spermathecae does not fit the subgenus Martiodrilus (Maipure) Righi, 1995 as diagnosed by Zicsi (2001). To accommodate this species and M. (Mp.) gaucheri sp. nov., we propose to modify the diagnosis of Martiodrilus (Maipure) as follows: Martiodrilus with membranous septa throughout. Spermathecae intracoelomic, four to six pairs between segments 6–11.
