Antenna: 1st flagellomere 2.0−2.4 times as long as wide and 2.1−2.5 times as long as pedicel; pedicel bearing black setulae and a long seta, the latter 2.0−2.2 times as long as pedicel; arista bare, 1st aristomere shorter than wide, 2nd aristomere 1.0−1.2 times as long as wide, 3rd thickened on approximately basal 2/5. Palpus nearly cylindrical, only weakly widened near apex, nearly as long as pedicel and 1st flagellomere combined.

Thorax black in ground color, with grayish pruinosity on postpronotal lobe, notopleural region, narrow posterior portion of presutural area and intra-alar region of postsutural scutum; pleura broadly with silvery-grayish pruinosity; dorsum with 2 narrow inner and 2 broad outer dark longitudinal vittae, the latter 4−5 times as wide as inner vitta and slightly broader than pruinose portion between inner and outer vittae. All thoracic setulae black, erect and fine; 1−2 presutural acrostichal setae; 3 presutural dorsocentral setae; 2 supra-alar setae, anterior one shorter than anterior intra-alar and notopleural setae; scutellum black, strong apical setae crossed and horizontal, 1.6−1.8 times as long as scutellum; basal and subapical setae subequal in length and 2.0−2.2 times as long as scutellum. Wing ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 − 5 ) hyaline; tegula black; basicosta yellow to light brown; lower calypter translucent pale yellow. Costal seta not differentiated; costa with setulae ventrally from base to apex of 3rd costal sector; vein R4+5 with 3−4 fine setulae at base, dorsally and ventrally; vein M, from crossvein dm-cu to its bend, 1.4−1.5 times as long as distance between the bend and wing margin. Legs black, claws dark brown, pulvilli pale yellowish-brown. All leg setulae black; fore tibia with 0−1 very fine posterior seta; mid tibia with 1 anterodorsal and 1 very fine posterodorsal setae, ventral seta absent; hind tibia with 2 anterodorsal, 2 posterodorsal and 2 anteroventral setae, and 2 preapical dorsal setae.

Abdomen ovate, orange yellow, without pruinosity. Setulae on dorsum black, spinulose and decumbent on tergites 3 and 4, fine and erect on tergites 5 and 6; syntergite 1+2 with 2−4 lateral discal, 2 long median marginal and 2 lateral marginal setae; tergite 3 with 2 long median marginal and 2 lateral marginal setae; tergite 4 with a row of 6−8 marginal setae; tergite 5 with a row of weak marginal setae. Material examined. Holotype ♂: Yunling, 2600−2900 m, Deqin, Yunnan, China, 27−31.v.2012, leg. Q. Wang (NKU). Paratypes: 9 ♂♂, 1 ♀, same data as holotype (NKU).

Etymology. The specific epithet is based on the type locality of Deqin, a special place in NW Yunnan, China.

Remarks. Hemyda deqinensis sp. nov. is one of four species in the genus with a long vibrissa, 0.50−0.60 times as long as eye height, the other three being H. dominikae , H. hertingi and H. vittata . Within this group, H. deqinensis and H. dominikae resemble each other by having a predominantly yellow or orange-yellow abdomen and a protrusion on tergite 6 in the female ( Figs. 6−7 View FIGURES 6 − 12 , 18−19 View FIGURES 18 − 24 ). Hemyda deqinensis differs from H. dominikae by its small size (7.0− 7.5 mm), the entirely yellow or orange-yellow abdominal tergites of the male, the female abdominal syntergite 1+2 lacking lateral marginal setae, and tergite 3 with 2 median marginal and 2 lateral marginal setae.
