Holotype. HNHM /16576 Yukarıkonak, 40 km N of Mardin, limestone, 1873 m a.s.l., 37°34’N 40°32’E, 28.04.2009, leg. T. Pavlíček.

Paratypes. HNHM /16592 2 ex, same as that of the Holotype; HNHM /16596 1 ex, Pirhatap, 40 km N of Mardin, limestone, stream, 29.04.2009., leg. T. Pavlíček.

Derivatio nominis. The new species is named in honour of Patricia Cardet (wife of TP) for her continuous help in our earthworm researches.

Diagnosis. Length 55–72 mm, diameter 4–4.5 mm, setae closely paired. Colour red-violet. First dorsal pore in 3/4. Clitellum on 1/2 26, 27–39, 1/2 40, tubercles on 34–38. Male pore on 15, surrounded by glandular crescents. Nephridial pores irregularly alternate between b and above d. Four pairs of vesicles in 9–12; spermathecae two pairs in 9/10, 10/11, open near d. Calciferous glands in 12. Hearts in segments 7–11, nephridial bladders simple, sausage-shaped.

External characters. Holotype 72 mm long and 4.5 mm wide. Number of segments 193. Paratypes 55–57 mm long and 4 mm wide. Number of segments 125–144. Colour red-violet. Prostomium epilobous, 1/2 closed. First dorsal pore at intersegmental furrow 3/4. Setae closely paired. Setal arrangement behind clitellum: aa: ab: bc: cd: dd = 11:1.3:8:1:31. Male pores on segment 15, surrounded by glandular crescents, protruding into the neighbouring segments. Nephridial pores irregularly alternate between setal line b–d. Clitellum on segments 1/2 26, 27–39, 1/2 40. Tubercula pubertatis on segments 34–38, hardly visible. Glandular tumescence on segments 9– 12, 17, 22, 25–27, 31, 32 ab.

Internal characters. Septa 5/6–14/15 thickened. Testes and funnels paired in 10–11, covered with perioesophageal testis sac. Four pairs of seminal vesicles in 9–12, smaller in 9 and 10. Spermathecae two pairs in 9/ 10, 10/11 with external openings near the setal line d. Calciferous glands in 12. Paired hearts appear in 7–11, with a pair of small extraoesophageal vessels in 12. Nephridial bladders simple, sausage-shaped. Crop in 15–16, and gizzard in 17–18. Typhlosolis trifid, large. Longitudinal musculature is of pinnate type.

Remarks. With its long clitellum, the new species is quite peculiar in the genus Eisenia . The only similar species is E. muganiensis ( Michaelsen, 1910) described from the Mughan Region, Azerbaijan. E. patriciae sp. nov. differs from it by the more anterior location of the clitellum and tubercles (clitellum 1/2 26 –39, 1/2 40 in the new species and on 28–41 in E. muganiensis , tubercles on 34–38 vs. 35, 36–39).
