FEMALE

Gnathosoma. Anterior margin of epistome convex, smooth or denticulate. Seta pc stouter than hypostomatic setae, slightly longer than h3, in turn slightly longer than h1; h2 the shortest; insertion of h2 slightly posterior to insertion of h3. Inner palp trochanter seta not elongate. Deutosternum moderately wide, with delimiting lateral lines and seven rows of 4–12 denticles each; basal two rows distinctly longer than others. Corniculi about as long as or slightly longer than their basal widths, well separated from each other, subparallel. Cheliceral digits of similar lengths; fixed digit multidentate; movable digit with four teeth in addition to apical tooth.

Idiosoma. Elongate. Dorsum: dorsal shield smooth or ornamented, without lateral incision at area of fusion or delineated strip along lateral margins; anterior end of dorsal shield not strongly deflexed. No supernumerary setae on dorsal shield. Podonotal region of shield with 11 pairs of setae, including r3, which is distinguished from neighbouring setae by being perpendicular to lateral shield margin (j1 absent, as indicated by the fact that the anteriormost j seta is positioned behind level of the anteriormost lyrifissure). Opisthonotal region of shield with seven or ten pairs of setae. Unsclerotised lateral cuticle with six pairs of setae. Dorsal idiosomal setae of greatly variable lengths, from minute to relatively long setae; lateral idiosomal setae similar to each other in length; all acicular, most smooth. Ve n t e r: presternal platelets indistinct. Sternal shield well sclerotised or not, with three pairs of setae (st1–st3) of similar lengths; st2 about equidistant to st1 and st3; third pair of sternal lyrifissures (iv3) absent or inserted on unsclerotised cuticle or on metasternal plates; posterior sternal shield margin slightly concave. Seta st4 inserted on cuticle or metasternal plates. Genital shield not wide enough to include iv5; st5 distinctly inserted on shield or apparently on cuticle (because of the lateral desclerotisation of the shield); anterior hyaline region and posterior margin convex. Two pairs of elongate metapodal plates. A sclerotised line between genital and ventrianal shields. Opisthogaster with six or seven pairs of setae in addition to circumanal setae, of which three pairs on trapezoidal ventrianal shield (ventral shield may be unsclerotised, so that only ovoid anal shield is conspicuous); para-anal setae inserted at about same level as posterior anal margin, about as long as or distinctly shorter than post-anal seta. Anal opening not enlarged, 1/3 to 1/4 of length of sclerotised section, separated from posterior shield margin. Anterior section of endopodal shield fused with sternal shield (reduced to platelets between coxae I– II and II–III in A. asternalis Lindquist & Chant ); section behind sternal shield reduced to an elongate platelet. Exopodal shield shaped as a narrow strip along coxae II–IV.

Peritreme. Extending from stigma to region anterior to j2, slightly narrower than diameter of stigma. Peritrematic shield very narrow; fused with dorsal shield anterior to j2 and broadly fused with exopodal shield beside coxa IV. Legs. Median section of pulvilli of legs II–IV rounded. Setation of legs I–IV, genu: 13, 10, 8, 9; tibia: 13, 10, 8, 10. Leg II not thickened and without spine-shaped setae. Leg IV with one or more distinct macrosetae.

Spermathecal apparatus. Phytoseiid-type.

MALE: unknown.
