( Figs 1 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 16 View FIGURES 16 – 30 , 31 View FIGURES 31 – 41 , 42–44 View FIGURES 42 – 53 , 69 View FIGURES 69 – 76 )

Idiopteron (Falsocaenia) meridanum Pic, 1922: 24 .

Type material. Syntypes of Idiopteron (Falsocaenia) meridanum , 1 male, 2 females, ‘ Venezuela, Mérida’, without other data ( MNHN).

Diagnosis. It can be distinguished from F. irregularis in slightly smaller eyes, maxillary palpomere 1 and partly palpomere 2 yellow, almost whole pronotum dark brown, transverse stripes on elytra reaching lateral margins, and in shorter paramerae reaching to phallic constriction.

Redescription. Whole body dark brown, only posterior half of pronotal lateral margins, posterior pronotal angles, anterior third of elytra (except suture) and broad transverse stripe in 3/5–5/6 of elytra orange, and maxillary palpomere 1 and basal half of palpomere 2 yellow ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Eyes small, interocular distance 1.7x longer than maximal eye diameter. Maxillary palpomere 1 and proximal half of palpomere 2 yellow, palpomeres 3–4 and labial palpi dark brown. Antennomere 3 slightly (1.1x) shorter than 4 ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31 – 41 ). Pronotum slender, 1.6x wider than long at base, posterior pronotal angles strongly projected laterally ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 16 – 30 ). Elytra 3.6x longer than wide in humeral portion, strongly widened to posterior third, elytral width in posterior 1/3 twice longer than humeral width. Male genitalia slender, parameres reaching distal constriction of phallus ( Fig. 42–44 View FIGURES 42 – 53 ). Female genitalia with coxites laterally constricted in distal quarter, styli broad ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 69 – 76 ). Body length: 9.5–10.5 mm, humeral width: 2.2–2.5 mm.

Remark. Antennomeres 9–11 of both antennae of the male syntype missing.
