Holotype. HNHM /16953. Grazed Mediterranean garrigue near Hasankeyf, Batman Province, Turkey, 37o42'N, 41o24'E. Leg. T. Pavlíček & P. Cardet, 23.04.2009.

Paratypes. HNHM /16954, 5 ex., locality and date same as that of the Holotype.

Derivatio nominis. The new species is named in honour of our college, the renowned mite taxonomist Dr. Jenő Kontschán for his continuous help in our earthworm researches.

Diagnosis. Length 56–79 mm, diameter 3.5– 4 mm, setae closely paired. Colour red-violet dorsally. First dorsal pore in 4/5. Clitellum on 26–37, 1 /2 38, tubercles on 32–36. Male pore on 15, surrounded by glandular crescents. Nephridial pores not visible. Four pairs of vesicles in 9–12; spermathecae two pairs in 9/10–10/11, open near d. Calciferous glands in 11–13. Hearts in segments 7–11. Nephridial bladders simple, sausage-shaped. Longitudinal musculature pinnate.

External characters. Holotype 78 mm long and 4 mm wide. Number of segments 169. Paratypes 56–79 mm long and 3.5– 4 mm wide. Number of segments 117–173. Colour red-violet dorsally. Prostomium tanylobous. First dorsal pore at intersegmental furrow 4/5. Setae closely paired. Setal arrangement behind clitellum: aa: ab: bc: cd: dd = 18.6:1.3:10:1:38.6 ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A). Male pores on segment 15, surrounded by glandular crescents protruding into the neighbouring segments. Nephridial pores not visible. Clitellum on segments 26–37, 1 /2 38. Tubercula pubertatis on segments 32–36. Glandular tumescence on segments 10–12, 14, 16, 21–23, 32–37 ab ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B).

Internal characters. Septa 6/7–8/9 strongly thickened, 9/10–10/11 less so. Testes and funnels paired in segments 10–11, covered with peri-oesophageal testis sac. Four pairs of seminal vesicles in 9–12. Spermathecae two pairs in 9/10, 10/11 with external openings near setal line d. Calciferous glands in segment 11–13 without well demarcated diverticula. Paired hearts appear in segments 7–11, with a pair of small extraoesophageal vessels in 12. Nephridial bladders simple, sausage-shaped. Crop in segments 15–16, and gizzard in segments 17–18. Typhlosolis T-shaped, large. Longitudinal musculature is of pinnate type.

Remarks. The new species is close to E. malevici Perel, 1962 but differs from it by the somewhat longer clitellum, the tanylobic head and the number of seminal vesicles (Table 1).
