Neoheegeria sinaitica Priesner

Neoheegeria sinaitica Priesner, 1934: 278

The type specimens were collected on Verbascum  sp. in Sinai, Egypt but another series was collected at the same locality on Phlomis floccosa  [ Lamiaceae  ]. Priesner (1965) concluded that the identification of Verbascum  might be incorrect. The species is distinguished from other species in the genus by the presence of a ‘conspicuous’ or ‘rather prominent, slender’ fore tarsal tooth in females ( Priesner 1934; 1965). A single female of sinaitica  was collected on Astragalus  sp. with the new species described above, and this is the first report of sinaitica  since its description. The validity of this species remains doubtful, in the absence of further specimens from the area of the type locality.
