Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Hanover as Fierasfer homei by Peters (1877: 844).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa and Mascarenes east to Hawaiian, Society and Gambier islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Western Australia, Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Benthic, reef-associated, lives in holothurians, 0–30 m depth. Marine.
