Cyrtodiopsis yunnanensis View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 26–33 View FIGURES 26 – 33 )

Diagnosis. Wing with central band and preapical band connected centrally and three hyaline spots between them; middle hyaline spot of cell R4+5 narrow and strip-like. Cell R4+5 nearly as wide as cell R2+3 at widest point. Male fore femur without ventral incision at apex, tibia without ventral process at base. Scutellar spines very long, about 3 times longer than scutellum, black, with 15–16 long inner setulae.

Description. Male. Body length 6.8 mm, head width 6.8 mm, wing length 4.1 mm, wing width 1.3 mm.

Head red brown with thin pale gray pollen, except ocellar tubercle dark brown, ptilinal suture black and broad apical parts of eye stalks black brown; eyes yellow brown. Eye stalks as long as body, head width equal to body length, red brown. Setulae on head and eye stalks mostly short and dark brown. 1 pair of black inner vertical seta thin and located at middle of stalks with a weak tubercle; 1 pair of black outer vertical seta thin. Antennae yellow brown; arista subapical, long, black. Proboscis yellow brown with brown setulae; palpus slender, brown.

Thorax red brown with pale gray pollen. Setulae on thorax dark brown; scutum with long sparse setulae. Scutellar spines very long and curved (1.40 mm), about 3 times longer than scutellum, black, with 15–16 brown long inner setulae; apical seta short, black. Legs yellow brown except fore tibia and tarsus black brown with tarsomeres 3–5 yellowish brown and apical 1/4 of mid and hind femora brown. Setulae on legs brown; femora with long setulae. Fore femur not obviously thickened, 4.2 times longer than wide, about 3.4 times thicker than fore tibia, and with two rows of short black ventral tubercles (anterior row with 21–25 tubercles, posterior row nearly as long as anterior row and with 18–22 tubercles). Male fore femur without ventral incision at apex, tibia without ventral process at base. Wings hyaline with four dark brown transverse bands; central band and preapical band connected centrally, with three hyaline spots between them, cell R4+5 nearly as wide as cell R2+3 at widest point, middle hyaline spot of cell R4+5 strip-like; veins dark brown. Halter whitish.

Abdomen clavate, basally constricted, apically swollen; tergite 6 narrow and tergite 7 invisible in dorsal view. Abdomen red brown with pale gray pollen, tergites 4 with two yellow brown lateral patches at base. Setulae on abdomen long and brownish. Male genitalia ( Figs. 30–33 View FIGURES 26 – 33 ): Epandrium semiglobular, with posterolateral angle somewhat acute in lateral view, without distinct setae; surstylus rather long, about 2.5 times longer than wide, apically curved downward in lateral view. Cerci subtriangular in posterior view, about 2 times longer than wide, without long setae. Aedeagal apodeme with anterior arm broadening anteriorly in lateral view, 1.3 times as long as posterior arm.

Female. Body length 4.8–6.4 mm, head width 4.5–5.7 mm, wing length 3.3–4.4 mm, wing width 1.1–1.2 mm. Similar to male, but eye stalks slightly shorter than body, head width 0.9 times body length; tergite 6 wider and tergite 7 invisible in dorsal view; fore tarsomeres 2–5 pale.

Type material. Holotype male, CHINA: Yunnan, Xishuangbanna, Jinghong, 570 m, 4. XI. 2001. Paratypes 6 females, same as holotype.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Cyrtodiopsis plauta Yang et Chen, 1996 , but it can be separated from the latter by the following characters: cell R4+5 nearly as wide as cell R2+3 at widest point; middle hyaline spot of cell R4+5 strip-like; scutellar spines very long, with 15–16 long inner setulae; aedagal apodeme with anterior arm 1.3 times as long as posterior arm. In C. plauta , cell R2+3 is distinctly much narrower than cell R4+5 at widest point; the middle hyaline spot of cell R4+5 is nearly rounded; the scutellar spines are long with 4 long inner setulae; the aedeagal apodeme has the anterior arm 1.7 times as long as the posterior arm ( Yang & Chen, 1996).

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality Yunnan.
