Morellia dalcyi Pamplona, 1986c: 660 View in CoL . Type locality: BRAZIL, São Paulo, Campinas. Holotype Ƌ, MNRJ (seen).

Redescription. Colour. Black, with blue reflections. Frontal vitta, fronto-orbital plate and face brown, with silver pruinosity; gena paler and shining; antenna, basal half of arista and palpus yellow; mesonotum with one silver dusted central vitta in front of the acrostichals and grey dusted on postpronotal lobe; fore and mid legs dark brown, hind legs paler; haltere yellow; calypters brownish, upper calypter on outer half white and opaque; wing with a faint mark at humeral cross-vein; abdomen without pruinosity.

Male. Body length: 6.0–7.0 mm; wing length: 6.0 mm.

Head. Eyes bare, separated at level of anterior ocellus by 0.14–0.17 of head width; frons divergent towards lunule; ocellar triangle with a pair of setae and many setulae; 16–21 pairs of frontal setae in 2 or 3 rows; postpedicel 1.9–2.5 times the length of pedicel; pedicel with 2 setae and few setulae; arista plumose, with 18–19 cilia, bare apicad, and with some secondary plumes as far as level of 6th or 7th cilia; vibrissa shorter than arista; 1 supravibrissal seta, less than half the length of vibrissa and many other setulae that extend to level of middle of postpedicel; 6–7 subvibrissal setae followed by 10–12 genal setae. Palpus expanded at apex.

Thorax. Acrostichals 0+1; dorsocentrals 0+3; intra-alars 0+2; presutural 1; prealars 2, first prealar half the length of second; supra-alars 2; postpronotals 4; notopleuron with 2 long, subequal setae and covered with groundsetulae; postalars 2; intrapostalar 1; scutellum with 1 basal, 2 subapical, 1 apical and 1 preapical pairs of strong setae, and latero-ventrally with many setae, the basalmost ones downcurved; postalar wall and suprasquamal ridge bare. Proepisternal depression bare; proepimeron with about 5 long setae and many setulae; prosternum broad and setulose; anepisternum with a posterior row of about 10 setae, with 3 weak setae upcurved on upper-anterior corner, and covered with short setulae; katepisternals 1+2; anepimeron setulose on posterior half; katepimeron bare; anatergite bare; katatergite setulose. Legs: fore femur with a posterodorsal row of setae, a posterior row of setae on basal two-thirds, and a complete posteroventral row of setae; fore tibia with an anterodorsal row of short and strong setae, 2 dorsal, 1 posterodorsal and 1 posteroventral preapical setae, and anterior surface with a ctenidium of golden setulae; fore tarsomere 1 with 2 long setae; mid femur with a tubercle at apex of anterodorsal to dorsal surfaces bearing about 3 agglutinated short spines that continue as about 5 posterodorsal to posterior setae, an anterodorsal row of 7 setae on apical half, and 5 ventral setae on basal half of which the 2 median ones are stronger; mid tibia with an anterodorsal comb-like ctenidium of very short spinose setulae on basal fourth and finer and sparse setae on apical half, 3 strong posteroventral setae on basal third, 1 on middle third and 1 on apical third, 1 dorsal and 1 posterodorsal preapical setae and 2 anteroventral, 2 posteroventral and 2 ventral apical setae; hind femur with 6 anteroventral setae on apical half, an anterodorsal row of setae, 3 posterodorsal preapical setae, and a few posteroventral setulae on apical fourth; hind tibia with 6 long, fine anteroventral setae on apical half, an anterodorsal row of setae with 2 longer on middle third, a dorsal row of short but strong setae, 2 posterior setae on basal half and 2 on middle third, 1 anterodorsal preapical seta, 1 anteroventral apical seta, no posteroventral apical seta, and a posterior brush-like ctenidium; hind tarsus with strong setae ventrally. Wing with a uniform covering of microtrichia; dm-cu sinuous; stem-vein bare before, and with 2–3 short setulae after, humeral cross-vein on dorsal surface, and bare on ventral surface; R2+3 bare on dorsal and ventral surfaces; R4+5 setulose from base to apex on dorsal and ventral surfaces; 3–4 strong setae on basicosta.

Abdomen. With a lateral tuft of setulae on syntergite 1+2, tergites 3–5 with setulae; sternite 1 setulose; membrane of posterior margin of sternite 5 with setae.

Terminalia (figs 20–23 in Pamplona 1986c). Inner middle third of cercal plate convex; surstylus with one seta and some setae on apical two-thirds; aedeagal apodeme narrowed apically; basiphallus long; aedeagus bare; gonopod with one long and strong seta on basal third; paramere with many setae apically and some on middle third.

Female. Body length: 6.0–7.0 mm; wing length: 6.0–7.0 mm.

Similar to male, differing as follows: eyes separated at level of anterior ocellus by 0.31–0.32 of head width; fronto-orbital plate with 3 proclinate setae and 5 reclinate setulae; mid femur without a tubercle; mid tibia with 3 posterior setae, 1 on basal half and 2 on apical half, and 2 posterodorsal setae on apical half; hind tibia on anterodorsal surface with 3 setae on middle third and on anteroventral surface 4 setae on apical half.

Ovipositor (figs 24–25 in Pamplona 1986c). Tergite 6 rod-like and golf-club-shaped; tergite 7 rod-like, anteriorly enlarged, posteriorly with 2 plates with spines; tergite 8 broad, rod-like, posteriorly with 2 plates with spines; sternite 7 as 3 plates with strong spines; sternite 8 as 2 small rods, posteriorly with 2 small plates with spines; epiproct with many small setae; hypoproct with many long setae; cercus cylindrical and long.

Material examined. BRAZIL: São Paulo, Campinas , forest area, on faeces in shade, 2.viii.1978 , A.X. Linhares, holotype Ƌ ( MNRJ) ; São Paulo, Bocaina, Fruticultura , 24.xi.1970, H.S. Lopes, 1 ♀ paratype ( MNRJ) ; Goiás, Jataí , xii.1972, F.M. Oliveira, 1 Ƌ, 1 ♀ paratypes ( MNRJ) ; same locality and collector, x.1972, 1 ♀ paratype ( MNRJ) .

Distribution. NEOTROPICAL: Brazil (widespread).
