Terra typica : Pacific Ocean ( Macquarie Island, sub-Antarctic)

Pacific Ocean:

• 54°30′S, 158°52′E; 0 m bsl: [FAO81] Type Locality: sub-Antarctic, Macquarie Island, W coast of N tip of the island, supralittoral zone, lichen Caloplaca subjected to heavy sea spray. Miller & Kristensen (1999)

Remarks: Known only from the type locality, this species is probably closely related to E. travei , E. s. porphyrae and E. s. verrucariae , which are also known from similar habitats in the sub-Antarctic.
