Egogepa Razowski, 1977: 323 View in CoL .
Type Species. Egogepa zosta Razowski, 1977 , by original designation.
Diagnosis. The genus is characterized by the following characters: forewing with all veins separate, except R4-R5 long stalked and chorda vestigial; hindwing with Rs-M1 short stalked and hairbrush between anal and cubital veins; male genitalia with uncus strong, socius large and drooping, costa of valva long and well developed, sacculus simple, and coecum penis lacking; and female genitalia with sterigma cup-shaped, antrum membranous, and signum absent.
Discussion. Razowski (1977) compared Egogepa with Epagoge and Gnorismoneura . He indicated that Egogepa differs from the latter two mainly in the structure of male genitalia. Razowski (1987) later pointed out that the shape of the aedeagus was an autapomorphy of Egogepa , and the genus was an offshoot of Gnorismoneura . According to Razowski (1987) and Jinbo (2000), Egogepa and Gnorismoneura belong to the primitive Archipini group. Our study supports Razowski’s view, viz. Egogepa and Gnorismoneura are closely related. They share a similar long, well developed costa of the valva; they differ by the absence of the coecum penis and signum in Egogepa . Species of Egogepa also have a special hairbrush in the hindwing, which may be another autapomorphy of the genus.
