Redescription. Body. Length 2.7–2.9 mm, convex, parallelsided, glossy; body colour black; elytra dark brown, antennae and legs brown.

Head circular in outline, convex; eyes large, moderately protruding from lateral contours of head, length of each seen from above longer than postocular region; surface of head without microsculpture; puncturation fine and moderately sparse, finer and sparser than that on pronotum. Antennae very long, extending to 3/4 of elytra, slightly increasing in width apically, antennomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length, antennomeres 4–10 longer than wide, decreasing in length, antennomere 11 nearly coniform.

Pronotum quadrate, convex, lateral sides sinuately narrowed to obtuse hind angles; before base with relatively large transverse impression; surface without microsculpture; puncturation relatively coarse and dense; pubescence at midline directed posteriorly in apical half and anteriorly in basal half.

Elytra subquadrate, at suture slightly shorter than pronotal length at midline; surface without microsculpture; puncturation minute, pinpricklike and sparse.

Abdomen widened posteriorly, bases of tergites III–V each with deep transverse impression, first two impressions coarsely punctate, third impression smooth, impunctate; tergal puncturation minute, pinpricklike and sparse; surface without microsculpture.

Male. Aedeagus as in Figs. 72–73 View FIGURES 72 – 74 .

Female. Spermatheca as in Fig. 74 View FIGURES 72 – 74 .

Remarks. Ischnopoderona namibensis is very similar to I. intermedia , from which it can be distinguished by its larger size, the antennomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length (antennomere 3 longer than 2 in I. intermedia ) and by the shape of the aedeagus.

Distribution. Namibia, Republic of South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe (Map 4).

Ischnopoderona intermedia Pa ś nik, sp. n. ( Figs. 75–76 View FIGURES 75 – 76 , Map 6)

Type material. Holotype: ɗ: Ethiopia: Shoa, S. L. Helena 20 km of Mount Zughala, under bark of dead tree, R. O. S. Clark, ( BMNH). Paratype: ɗ: Ethiopia: Ilubabor Gambela, 5.XI.1972, R. O. S. Clark ( BMNH).

Description. Body. Length 2.5 mm, convex, parallelsided, glossy; body colour pitchy brown; elytra brownishred, abdomen black with tergites III–IV brown, antennae brown, legs yellow.

Head circular in outline, convex; eyes large, moderately protruding from lateral contours of head, length of each seen from above longer than postocular region; surface of head without microsculpture; puncturation fine and moderately sparse, finer than that on pronotum. Antennae very long, extending to 3/4 of elytra, slightly increasing in width apically, antennomere 3 longer than 2, antennomeres 4–10 longer than wide, decreasing in length, antennomere 11 nearly coniform.

75–76 View FIGURES 75 – 76 .

Female unknown.

Remarks. See remarks under I. namibensis .
