COMMON NAME (S): Yellow Drab.

SYNONYM(S): Xanthodes innocens Walker, 1858d ; Xanthodes fimbriata Walker, 1865c .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Namibia , Nigeria, Réunion, Saudi Arabia, Sierra leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include the following plant species from the family Malvaceae Abelmoschus esculentus Moench in Uganda, Thespesia garckeana F.Hoffm. in Zimbabwe, Gossypium sp. in South Africa and Lavatera olbia Alef. from elsewhere in Africa in an unnamed coutry. Other host plants from unnamed countries in Africa are Oryza sativa L. ( Poaceae ), and Malvacea species Malva trimestris (L.) Salisb. and those from the genera Gossypium , Abutilon and Hibiscus . The African Moths (2019) website simply lists the following as larval foodplants of the taxon: Three identified Malvaceae species namely, Malva olbia Alef. , M. trimestris (L.) Salisb. and Thespesia garckeana F.Hoffm. and three yet to be identified species of the same family namely, Gossypium sp. , Abutilon sp. and Hibiscus sp. The website also names the crop rice, Oryza sativa L. ( Poaceae ), as a larval foodplant of the taxon.
