Amicromias yunakovi View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs 6 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 28–32 View FIGURES 22 – 34 )

Type locality. Greece, South Peloponnesos (Laconia), near Vrontamas village, on the road to Paleomonastiro , east shore of Evrotas river , alt. ca 150 m.

Type material. Holotype: ♀,‘ Greece, South Peloponnesos (Laconia), near Vrontamas village, on the road to Paleomonastiro , east shore of Evrotas river , alt. ca 150 m, 04/II/2006, under stone, G. Kakiopoulos lgt.’ ( MCZR) . Paratype: 1 ♀, same data as holotype ( GKAG) .

Description. Body length: holotype female 2.13 mm; paratype female 2.09 mm.

Body dark brownish, antennae and legs paler, reddish brown, monochromatic. Elytra with sparsely placed appressed V-shaped scales, scales not concealing integument, connected only at short basal part and then widely divorced to two slender, piliform fringes ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 22 – 34 ). Appressed vestiture of pronotum and head is hardly visible by incrustation. Erect setae on elytra inconspicuous, slender, parallel-sided, pointed apicad, create one regular sparse row on each interval, shorter than half the width of one interval, distance between two setae on interval longer than length of one seta. Pronotum and head with rostrum with similar setae as elytra, only slightly shorter. Antennal scape and funicle segments with semierect long, bristle-shaped setae, slightly longer than width of funicle segments.

Rostrum ( Figs 28, 29 View FIGURES 22 – 34 ) wide and short, 1.34–1.37× as wide as long, widest at base, at base 1.23–1.26× as wide as at apex, at basal third distinctly, at anterior two thirds weakly tapered anteriad, pterygia not projecting from outline of rostrum. Epifrons narrow, with slightly convex sides. Frons glabrous, reaching posteriad to antennal insertion. Epistome hardly visible. Antennal scrobes dorsally well visible, reniform; laterally short and distinctly enlarged posteriad, drop-shaped, separated from eyes by squamose stripe equally wide as length of scrobes. Rostrum separated from head by shallow transverse furrow. Eyes moderately large, distinctly prominent from outline of head; vertex wide, distinctly vaulted.

Antennal scape moderately robust, distinctly curved at midlength, gradually enlarged apicad, at apex equally wide as club. Funicle segment 1 1.7–1.8× as long as wide and 1.5–1.6× as long as segment 2, which is 1.6–1.7× as long as wide; segment 3 isodiametric; segments 4 and 5 1.1× as wide as long; segment 6 1.2× as wide as long and segment 7 1.3–1.4× as wide as long; club 1.6–1.7× as long as wide.

Pronotum ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 22 – 34 ) very wide, 1.56–1.68× as wide as long, widest at basal third, distinctly more tapered anteriad than posteriad, weakly constricted behind anterior border. Disc regularly vaulted.

Elytra ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 22 – 34 ) short oval, 1.23–1.28× as long as wide, humeri regularly rounded, apex broadly rounded; in lateral view distinctly vaulted. Striae narrow, punctured; intervals wide, flat.

Apex of protibiae rounded, with fringe of sparse, short, fine yellowish setae. Tarsi with segment 2 1.3–1.4× as wide as long; segment 3 1.4–1.5× as wide as long and 1.5–1.6× as wide as segment 2; onychium 0.8–0.9× as long as segment 3; claws fused at basal part.

Abdominal ventrites glabrous, sparsely covered with short piliform appressed setae.

Female genitalia. Spermatheca ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 22 – 34 ) with curved and regularly tapered cornu; ramus and nodulus equally long; ramus isodiametric, subsquared; nodulus more slender, subtriangular. Gonocoxites long, at apical part sclerotised, weakly tapered apicad and broadly rounded at apex, with fine setae, without styli. Sternite VIII with small subtriangular plate with sclerotised basal margin and long and slender apodeme.

Etymology. Dedicated to our friend Nikolai Yunakov, expert of Entiminae, author of the last revision of the genus.

Bionomy. Type specimens were found on a pasture, beneath a stone, a few meters from the shore of the main river of this region (Evrotas River). The locality is a small flat area, surrounded by low hills, with mild agricultural holdings (pastures, olive groves, wheat fields). Ten years later the locality was revisited with detailed searching, but no additional specimens were found.

Differential diagnosis. By its elytral vestiture not concealing integument, the erect elytral setae and the slender and apically pointed and bifurcated appressed scales, Amicromias yunakovi sp. n. is similar to A. rumelicus (Apfelbeck, 1898) , known from Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. But it is easily distinguishable by following set of characters:

1. Appressed elytral scales widely V-shaped, base of scales distinctly shorter than two its long, laterally expansed fringes. Pronotum wide, 1.56–1.68× as wide as long. Elytra short oval, 1.23–1.28× as long as wide. Antennal scape gradually enlarged from base to apex. Erect setae at apical declivity shorter than half the width of one interval, sparse, distance between two setae longer than length of one seta. Spermatheca with ramus and nodulus equally long..................... A. yunakovi View in CoL sp. n.

- Appressed elytral scales oval with short apical indentation, base of scales distinctly longer than two its short, parallel-sided tips. Pronotum narrow, 1.32–1.39× as wide as long. Elytra long oval, 1.35–1.38× as long as wide. Antennal scape enlarged at apical third. Erect setae at apical declivity longer than half the width of one interval, dense, distance between two setae shorter than length of one seta. Spermatheca with ramus conspicuously longer than nodulus........ A. rumelicus (Apfelbeck, 1898) View in CoL
