Material examined. SOUTH AFRICA: Natal, Pietermaritzburg, Montrose, field, P.E. Reavell, 27.11.82 (2exx.) ( KZNM). The holotype of Phyllontocheila vanderijsti housed in RMCA has been examined by high-quality digital photos of the dorsal and lateral habitus .

Distribution. Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda ( Schouteden 1923; Drake & Ruhoff, 1965; Göllner-Scheiding, 2004), and Republic of South Africa (first country record).
