Discussion. Claustropyga obtusidens was previously known only from the type material from Austria. The Canadian specimen is slightly different from the specimens from the type locality in the shape of the gonostylus and the tegmen. It is probable that the gonostylus of the Yukon specimen was slightly inflated in the KOH treatment and that the membraneous posterior part of the tegmen has collapsed. Among the Nearctic species, C. obtusidens is similar to C. auriculata from which it is distinguished e.g. by having all the gonostylar megasetae in the apical half of the gonostylus, and by having the patch of modified setae at the apex of fore tibia larger. In C. auriculata , these setae form a more compact group and rise from a roundish patch where the cuticle is distinctly different from the surrounding cuticle.
