Material examined. Papua New Guinea: 1 female (holotype; without antennal flagellum and hind tarsi), “Deutsch N. Guinea, Staudinger, V.” (handwriting), “ Type ” (reddish brown), “ Doryctophasmus ferrugineiceps Type Enderl. ♀”, “♀ Doryctophasmus ferrugineiceps End. C. van Achterberg, 1980, Holotype ” ( MNHU). Vietnam: 1 female, “D.N. Guinea, 24.7.[19]12, Kais. Augustass Exp., Bürgers S.G.” ( ZISP); 1 male, “ Vietnam, prov. Ha Son Binh, Ky Son, Cao Phong, forest, 25.10.1990, Belokobylskij” ( ZISP).

Description. Female. Body length 7.1–8.9 mm; fore wing length 4.6–5.6 mm.

Head width (dorsal view) 1.2–1.3 × its median length, 1.2 × width of mesoscutum. Head behind eyes (dorsal view) very weakly convex anteriorly and roundly narrowed posteriorly. Transverse diameter of eye 1.20–1.35 × longer than temple. Ocelli medium-sized, arranged in triangle with base 1.3–1.5 × its sides. POL 2.6–2.7 × Od, almost equal to OOL. Vertex without lateral tubercles opposite posterior ocelli. Eye 1.10–1.15 × as high as broad. Malar space 0.30–0.35 × height of eye, 0.6 × basal width of mandible. Face width 0.85–0.90 × height of eye and 1.2–1.3 × height of face and clypeus combined. Clypeus weakly convex, with very fine ventral flange. Hypoclypeal depression width 0.5–0.6 × distance from edge of depression to eye, 0.3–0.4 × width of face. Length of maxillary palpus 1.3 × head height (without mandible). Head below eyes (front view) distinctly and weaklyroundly narrowed.

Antenna mainly missing. Scape 1.1–1.3 × longer than its maximum width, about 2.0 × longer than pedicel.

Mesosoma. Length 2.5–2.6 × its height. Pronotal neck with fine and curved pronotal carina. Median lobe of mesoscutum without median furrow. Notauli deep and rather narrow anteriorly, fused medially and following as one wide and shallow furrow towards posterior margin of mesoscutum, densely and coarsely crenulate-rugose in anterior half, rugose-granulate and with distinct median long carina in posterior half. Prescutellar depression rather shallow, with distinct median and two lateral carinae, finely reticulate-coriaceous between striae, medially 0.3 × as long as scutellum. Scutellum without lateral carinae. Metanotum with two short and convergent posteriorly lateral and one fine and short median carinae (dorsal view); without distinct metanotal tooth (lateral view). Sternaulus (precoxal sulcus) rather deep and narrow, straight. Metapleural flange with dense white pubescence along posterior margin.

Wings. Fore wing 4.7–5.0 × longer than its maximum width. Pterostigma 6.2 × longer than width. Metacarp 0.85–0.90 × as long as pterostigma. Second radial abscissa 2.0–2.1 × longer than first abscissa, 0.25–0.30 × as long as the straight third abscissa, 0.75–0.85 × as long as first radiomedial vein. Second radiomedial cell 2.2–2.9 × longer than its maximum width, about 0.6 × longer than brachial cell. First medial abscissa distinctly sinuate. Mediocubital vein sinuate. Recurrent vein 10.0–20.0 × longer than second abscissa of medial vein, 0.9 × as long as first radiomedial vein, 0.4 × as long as second abscissa of basal vein. Nervulus weakly curved; distance from nervulus to basal vein 0.20–0.35 × nervulus length. Brachial cell long, withoud median widening, more or less distinctly narrowed towards apex. Hind wing 7.3–7.4 × longer than its maximum width. First abscissa of mediocubital vein 0.3 × as long as second abscissa. Second mediocubital abscissa submedially without tubercle and additional oblique vein. Medial cell narrow in basal half, widened in apical half, 13.0 × longer than wide, about 0.5 × as long as wing. Recurrent vein short, straight, interstitial, weakly antefurcal or postfurcal, distinctly pigmented and unsclerotised.

Legs. Hind coxa 1.6–1.7 × longer than maximum width, almost as long as propodeum. Hind femur 3.2–3.3 × longer than wide. Hind tibia dorsally with eight distinct spines arranged in single row. Hind tarsus 1.1 × longer than hind tibia. Basitarsus of hind tarsus weakly shorter than second-fifth segments combined. Second segment of hind tarsus 0.45 × as long as basitarsus, 1.5 × longer than fifth segment (without pretarsus).

Metasoma 1.30–1.45 × longer than head and mesosoma combined. First tergite with distinct dorsope, with small spiracular tubercles, spiracles situated in basal 0.3, tergite weakly and linearly widened from base to apex. Acrosternite of first segment about 0. 5 × as long as tergite. Maximum width of first tergite 1.5–1.6 × its minimum width; length 3.2–3.6 × its apical width, 1.6–1.8 × longer than propodeum. Second tergite with lateral obtuse carinae weakly divergent posteriorly and fused with not broken lateral parts of second suture. Median length of second tergite about 2.0 × its basal width, 2.1–2.2 × length of third tergite. Second suture shallow and rahner wide, curved medially, without distinct lateral bends. Laterotergites separated on second and third tergites. Ovipositor sheath 1.1–1.3 × longer than metasoma, 2.0–2.3 × longer than mesosoma, 1.1–1.3 × longer than fore wing.

Sculpture and pubescence. Vertex densely and finely punctate-granulate; frons densely granulate laterally and rugose with striation medially. Face entirely densely transversely curvedly striate, sometimes with fine granulation between striae; temple finely and curvedly transversely striate-aciculate with reticulation, sometimes (holotype) coriaceous to smooth near eye. Mesoscutum densely and finely granulate, with dense and small punctation and reticulation, with median carina and coarse rugosity on narrow area in medioposterior half. Scutellum densely and finely granulate and with fine punctation. Mesopleuron mostly smooth with sparse small punctation, partly with fine rugulosity. Propodeum entirely rugose-areolate, partly with fine granulation, sometimes weakly rugulose medioanteriorly, with distinct median carina in basal third. Hind coxae finely and densely granulate-reticulate or punctate-reticulate becoming finer below, with dense and fine striation dorsally. Hind femur smooth, finely granulate-coriaceous in upper half or third. First tergite entirely coarsely rugose-areolate, with additional striation in apical half or third. Second tergite entirely finely and very densely longitudinally aciculate with small and very dense rugulosity between striae. Third tergite entirely or mostly very densely and small rugulose-reticulate forming fine transverse striation, smooth apically. Remaining tergites densely and finely or very finely reticulatecoriaceous, but smooth posteriorly. Vertex entirely with numerous, very dense and semi-erect or partly erect, rather short pale setae. Mesoscutum entirely with numerous, very dense and semi-erect white setae. Mesopleuron medially rather widely glabrous. Hind tibia dorsally with dense, short and semi-erect yellow setae, its length 0.5– 0.7 × maximum width of hind tibia.

Colour. Head brownish yellow. Mesosoma dark reddish brown to black, lateral lobes of mesoscutum, propleuron and most part of mesopleuron pales, sometimes light reddish brown. Metasoma mainly reddish brown or dark reddish brown, always reddish brown in posterior 0.4, petiole usually dark brown or black. Two basal segments dark reddish brown. Palpi yellow or pale yellow. Fore and middle legs yellow or brownish yellow. Hind coxa and most median part of hind femur dark reddish brown or reddish brown, trochanters, trochantellus and apex of femur yellowish brown; hind tibia and tarsus yellow or brownish yellow, tibia basally faintly infuscate. Ovipositor sheath dark brown or dark reddish brown, almost black apically. Fore wing faintly darkened, veins dark brown, parastigma brownish yellow. Pterostigma dark brown, yellowish basally and apically.

Male. Body length 3.7 mm; fore wing length 2.5 mm. Head width (dorsal view) equal to its median length. Transverse diameter of eye as long as temple. Antenna filiform, 37-segmented. First flagellar segment flattened dorso-ventrally, weakly convex and distinctly granulate in lower part, weakly concave and finely granulate in upper part; 4.0 × longer than its maximum width in basal half, 1.1 × longer than second segment. Penultimate segment 4.5 × longer than its width, 0.6 × as long as first flagellar segment, 0.8 × as long as apical segment. Radial cell of fore wing with long and rather narrow sclerotised spot. In hind wing, second abscissa of costal vein distinctly widened in posterior half. Radial cell with very long, rather wide and dark brown sclerotised spot; short and less sclerotised elongate sport present behind base of radial vein. First metasomal tergite with distinct spiracular tubercles, 2.7 × longer than apical width. Median length of second tergite 1.6 × its basal width, 2.3 × length of third tergite. Fourth-sixth metasomal tergites finely coriaceous. Otherwise similar to female.

Distribution. Australia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam.

Comparative diagnosis. D. ferrugineiceps Enderlein differs from other two species with long second metasomal tergite, D. madagascarus sp. nov. and D. beninus sp. nov., by characters presented in the key below.
