Genus Coleura Peters 1867 (2 species with 2 subspecies)

Genus Cormura Peters 1867 (1 species)

Genus Cyttarops Thomas 1913 (1 species)

Genus Diclidurus Wied-Neuwied 1819 (4 species with 2 subspecies)

Genus Emballonura Temminck 1838 (9 species with 17 subspecies)

Genus Mosia Gray 1843 (1 species with 3 subspecies)

Genus Peropteryx Peters 1867 (4 species with 6 subspecies)

Genus Rhynchonycteris Peters 1867 (1 species)

Genus Saccopteryx Illiger 1811 (5 species with 2 subspecies)

Discussion: McKenna and Bell (1997) divided this subfamily into two tribes, Emballonurini Gervais, 1855 ( Mosia , Emballonura , Coleura ) and Diclidurini Gray, 1866 (Neotropical emballonurids). However, both of these groups may be paraphyletic as so defined ( Dunlop, 1998). Accordingly, I do not recognize tribes within Emballonurinae at this time. For a key to Neotropical species see Jones and Hood (1993).
