Type material studied. Holotype [E MALAYSIA]: ♂: three labels ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–7 ): “ SABAH: Crocker Ra. / 1600m, km 51 rte / Kota Kinabalu—/ Tambukan, 18.V.87 / Burckhardt—Löbl” with “30a” on the reverse side [white, printed; reverse handwritten], “ E. ( Borneoconnus / laticlava n.sp. / det. H. Franz ” [white, handwritten and printed], “Holo- typus” [red, handwritten] ( MHNG). Paratype: ♂, same data as for holotypes, except for a yellow “ PARATYPUS ” label [ NHMW].

Revised diagnosis. BL ~ 1.6 mm; antennomere VIII in male strongly transverse, IX more than twice as broad as long, twice as broad as antennomere XI, strongly convex dorsally and strongly concave ventrally; pronotum broadest at base, strongly narrowing anterad; ventral apical plate of aedeagus subtriangular with rounded sides, its apex forming abruptly tapered, large subtriangular lobe directed distolaterad.

Redescription. Body of male ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–7 ) moderately slender, and moderately convex, BL 1.63 mm; pigmentation uniformly light to moderately dark brown; vestiture slightly lighter than cuticle.

Head ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–11 ) elongate rhomboidal, broadest at eyes, HL 0.35 mm, HW 0.30 mm; vertex and frons confluent, convex; supraantennal tubercles indistinct; eyes small, moderately convex; tempora in dorsal view three times as long as eyes. Punctures on vertex and frons small and inconspicuous; setae short, moderately dense, suberect; tempora and vertex with long and dense bristles. Antennae ( Figs 1 View FIGURES 1–7 , 10 View FIGURES 8–11 ) short, AnL 0.63 mm; antennomeres I–II each strongly elongate, III–VI each about as long as broad, VII slightly transverse, VIII strongly transverse, IX strongly modified, more than twice as broad as long, asymmetrical, strongly projecting laterad, strongly convex dorsally and strongly concave ventrally, with dorsal surface densely setose and ventral asetose, X strongly modified, distinctly transverse, asymmetrical, with basal ventral subtriangular projection, setose both ventrally and dorsally; XI much narrower than X but slightly longer, nearly symmetrical, about 1.3 × as long as broad, with subconical apex.

Pronotum ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–11 ) in dorsal view subtrapezoidal, broadest at base and strongly narrowing anteriorly, PL 0.38 mm, PW 0.35 mm; anterior margin nearly straight, sides nearly straight, posterior corners obtuse-angled; posterior margin straight at middle and bent anterad at each side in front of humerus; pronotal base with two pairs of small and shallow pits, area between median pits forming slightly elevated, diffuse longitudinal carina; sublateral carinae indistinct under light microscope (discernible under SEM). Punctures on pronotal disc fine, inconspicuous; setae short, moderately dense, suberect, sides of pronotum with dense, long bristles.

Elytra together suboval and slightly flattened, broadest distinctly in front of middle, EL 0.90 mm, EW 0.63 mm, EI 1.44; basal impressions shallow but distinct, humeral calli well-defined; apices separately rounded. Punctures on elytral disc more distinct than those on head and pronotum, large and dense but shallow, with diffuse margins, those in anterior half separated by spaces shorter than diameters of punctures; setae moderately long and dense, suberect.

Legs moderately long and slender; unmodified.

Aedeagus ( Figs. 12–15 View FIGURES 12–23 ) stout, AeL 0.28 mm, median lobe in ventral view with ventral apical plate subtriangular with rounded sides, its apex abruptly tapered and forming large subtriangular and rounded apical lobe shifted to the left and directed distolaterad; parameral apices reaching middle of ventral apical plate, each with four long apical setae and one short, lacking subapical setae.

Female. Unknown.
