Material: 2 maleS, 27.v.1972, USA, BoyeS SprIngS, Sonoma County, CalIfornIa, leg. P. H. Arnaud ( PWMP, CAS).

Additional description. Male. Head. Elongate, hIgher than long. Eye brIdge 4 facetS wIde. Antennae rather thIck; 4th flagellomere wIth l/w IndeX of 2.4, wIth whItISh haIrS, aS long aS the dIameter. PalpuS 3-Segmented, aS long aS the proboScIS; the fIrSt Segment IS the longeSt, wIth a few brIStleS and very Short haIr-lIke SenSIllae, the Second Segment IS aS long aS the thIrd. Labrum and proboScIS elongate, nearly aS long aS the head hIgh. Thorax. Brown, Scutum wIth very Short haIrS, Some lateral and preScutellar brIStleS are longer. Scutellum wIth Short haIrS. PoSterIor pronotum bare, anterIor pronotum and prothoracal epISternIte wIth Short and fIne haIrS. WIngS brownISh; R1 = ¾ R; c dIStInctly Shorter w; y = X, bare; CuA-Stem Shorter X; poSterIor veInS dIStInct, wIthout macrotrIchIa. Haltere Short and pale. LegS brownISh; the fore tIbIae wIth a SemIcIrcular bordered patch of brIStleS (tIbIal organ); the mIddle and the hInd tIbIae wIth equal, long and thIn SpurS. ClawS wIthout teeth. Abdomen. The fIrSt fIve abdomInal tergIteS wIth SparSe and Short haIrS, the SIXth wIth Somewhat denSer haIrS and the Seventh wIth a denSe cluSter of brIStleS In the mIddle of the dIStal border. The ventral baSe of the hypopygIum wIthout lobe or denSe brIStleS. The Inner margIn of gonocoXIteS and the membranouS part wIth Short haIrS. GonoStyluS rounded and wIth rather Short haIrS on the outer SIde. The Inner SIde of gonoStyluS concaved along the entIre length. At the apeX of gonoStyluS are two Strong SpIneS wIthIn Shorter brIStleS and a long whIplaSh haIr. The 9th SternIte IS bIlobated. The tegmen IS apIcally rounded wIth a dIStInct area of fIne teeth. The aedeaguS IS rather long and thIn. Body length: 3 mm.

Comments. The SpecIeS IS characterIzed by a denSe cluSter of brIStleS on the dIStal margIn of the Seventh tergIte, an elongate mouth part (nearly aS long aS the head hIgh), rather long flagellomereS, Short c (Shorter ½ w) and Short haIrS at the outSIdeS of gonocoXIteS and gonoStyluS. The 9th SternIte IS bIlobate (SparSely haIred). The ventral SIde of the hypopygIum haS Short haIrS on the membranouS part.

Distribution. CoSta RIca; USA (CalIfornIa).
