Diagnosis. Females of the species are similar to H. jocquei ( Bosmans 1982: 177, figs 2 – 3), H. maginii ( Figs 1 A–F, 2A–B), H. ovata ( Song & Zheng 1982: 81, figs 5–8), H. rossii ( Brignoli 1977: 79, fig. 46), and H. submaginii ( Zhang et al. 2011: 19, figs 18A–F) in having an epigynal atrium and small, anteriorly located subspermathecae, but differ from the others by the large, oval atrium with distinct margin ( Figs 6 D, 6E, 7A, 7C). Males of the species are similar to H. submaginii ( Zhang et al. 2011: 19, figs 17A–C), but are distinguished by the simple patellar apophysis ( Figs 3 C–E, 4G–I, 5A–C), rather than a bifurcate one.

Description. See Brignoli (1982: 346) and the description of H. flagellifera in Zhang et al. (2011: 19). Male holotype’s habitus, stridulatory files and palp are shown in Figures 3 A, 3B, 3C–E. Photos of specimens from Menglun in Yunnan are shown in Figures 4 A–I, 5A–C, 6A–G, 7A–D.

Distribution. China ( Hong Kong, Yunan, Jiangxi, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan), Laos.
