Temporal Distribution. July (2).

Diagnosis. Hispanioryctes sculptilis is distinguished by its relatively large, very robust form and elytra with impressed, punctate striae and intervals. No other species of Hispanioryctes has such strongly sculptured elytra.

Biology. Nothing is known of the biology of this species. The type locality, Miragoane , Haiti, is a lowland, coastal port, and the Dominican Republic site

Hispanioryctes wittmeri Howden and sides. Mandibles exposed, broadly rounded, lateral Endrödi, 1978 edge slightly sinuate. Pronotum: Surface punctate; (Figs. 22–25) punctures mostly large, deep, moderate in density in anterior half and along lateral margins; basal half Hispanioryctes wittmeri Howden and Endrödi with a few moderately-sized punctures. Base lacking 1978: 389. marginal bead. Elytra: Sutural stria an impressed row of punctures. Disc with 2 pair of impressed, Description. Length 26.3–33.4 mm; width punctate striae, punctures moderately large. Intervals 15.0– 19.5 mm. Color piceous, almost black, some with large, deep, moderately dense punctures. Sides specimens dark reddish brown. behind humerus with indistinct pair of punctate striae, punctures moderate in size. Apices wrinkled. Pygidium: Surface glabrous, basal 2/3 finely rugulopunctate; apical third at center with a few sparse, moderately sized punctures. In lateral view, surface strongly, evenly convex. Apex subtruncate.

Legs: Protibia quadridentate, teeth subequally spaced from one another except for slight space between teeth 2–3. Metatibia at apex with 3 lobe-like teeth. First metatarsomere at apex with weak, dorsal attenuation. Venter: Metasternum with anterior half densely punctate, setigerous, posterior half nearly impunctate, glabrous; setae long, sparse, reddish brown. Prosternal process small, laminate, narrowly subtriangular. Parameres (Figs. 20–21): Form slightly tapering, apices narrowly rounded, setose, small tooth present at mid-shaft in lateral view.

Allotype. Female. Length 30.9 mm; width 17.9 mm. As holotype, except in the following respects: Head: Antenna with 10 segments, club subequal in length to segments 2–7. Elytra: Sutural stria an impressed line, not a row of punctures.

Pygidium: Surface entirely rugulopunctate, apical third at center with moderately large punctures. In lateral view, surface weakly convex.
