Type locality. “Isla Paloma , Canal de los Jesuitas, Rio Paraná, Itapúa, Paraguay.”

Distribution. Known from Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, along the Paraguay River drainage ( Plt. 290A View Plate 290 ). In Brazil,recorded in the Pantanal and Cerrado ( Plt. 290A View Plate 290 ) at low elevations ( Plt. 290B View Plate 290 ). Observed in the field in rivers and seasonally flooded areas ( Scrocchi et al., 2005; Duleba et al., 2015).
