Jilinga taibaiensis View in CoL sp. nov.

Figs. 1A–D View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURES 2 A–F, 3A–H, 4A–E, 5A–H.

Description. Brownish yellow. Vertex triangular with pair of oblique streaks on anterior margin; pronotum with four or six dirty yellow or brownish yellow longitudinal bands ( Fig. 1A–D View FIGURE 1 ). Legs mostly pale, with dark brown maculae ( Fig.1B View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURES 2 A–F).

Male with pygofer side about twice as long as broad, without process on inner surface, posterior half with numerous long macrosetae ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 C, D). Anal tube with appendages fused preapically and then divergent ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 E, F), almost reaching ventral margin of pygofer ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 C, D), with small tooth at subapex ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 F, G). Subgenital plate triangular, longer than width at base, broad basally with lateral margin incurved at basal 1/3, then tapering to acute apex slight curved laterally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C, D). Style with apophysis slightly curved laterally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 E). Connective loop-shaped, arms fused apically ( Fig.4 View FIGURE 4 A, B). Aedeagus shaft slender and curved dorsally, with 8 pairs of lateral teeth arranged somewhat asymmetrically; gonopore apical on ventral margin; dorsal apodeme well sclerotized and articulated with preatruim, broadly U-shaped in posterior view; dorsal connective symmetrical with pair of footlike processes extended posterad and partly enclosing apex of aedeagus ( Fig.4 View FIGURE 4 A, B).

Female seventh sternite posterior margin with broadly rounded medial projection separated from narrow rounded lateral projections by V-shaped notches ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 , 5 View FIGURE 5 A). Ovipositor extend to pygofer apex ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 B). First valvulae with reticulate sculpture dorsally and scale-like sculpure ventrally ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 G, H). Second valvula narrowly blade-like with fine dorsal denticulation on posterior slender part. ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 E, F). Third valvula exceeding pygofer side ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 D).

Measurements. Male, 3.4–3.7mm long. Female, 3.6–3.8mm long

Material examined. Holotype ♂, China: Shaanxi, Taibai Mountain , Southern slope, 2950 m, 19-VIII- 2013, Fenglin Cao; Paratypes: 18♂♂ 8♀♀, same as holotype .

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality, Taibai Mountain.

Remarks. This species resembles J. asymetrica but can be distinguished from the latter by the subgenital plate tapering apcally with cuspidate apex and the aedeagal shaft with 8 pairs of lateral teeth arranged asymmetrically.

Female. Seventh sternite more strongly produced medially than in J. taibaiensis View in CoL , with lateral notches shallower ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 H, 7A). Female genitalia ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 B–H) very similar to J. taibaiensis View in CoL but second valvula with obvious fine dorsal denticulation on posterior slender part ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 F).

Material examined. China: 2♂♂ 2♀♀, Yunnan, Jinping County, Malu Village , 2000 m, 12-VI- 2009, Wei Cui ; 5♂♂ 3♀♀, Yunnan, Pingbian, Shuiweicheng , 2000 m, 16-VI- 2009, Wei Cui.

Distribution. China (Yunan, Guizhou, Taiwan).

Remarks. Xing et al (2012) adequately described the species but did not describe the female structures. It can be recognized by the structure of the aedeagus, which has five asymmetrical pairs of spines on the lateral margin. The female genitalia are figured here for the first time and the shape of the seventh sternite is diagnostic, with the posterior margin approximately triangular, strongly produced and undulate laterally.

Remarks. Ghauri (1974) placed this species in Jilinga according the structure of the aedeagus. In their key to species, Xing et al. (2012) separate J. darjilingensis from J. linzhiensis by subgenital plate broad at base, then abruptly narrowed at midlength then of uniform width, and the dorsal connective more complex. However, according to the figures in Xing et al. (2012), the subgenital plates of these two species are virtually identical in shape. These two species are very similar each other but J. darjilingensis may be distinguished by shape of the dorsal connective and short anal tube appendages not reaching the ventral margin of the pygofer lobe.
