Paratypes: 1♀, same data as holotype, gen. slide Jp. 4830; 1♂, Khurumsang, 1, West, 7.vi.1968, 2500 m., Nepal, T. Kumata, Jp. 4829; 1♀, same data "Jp. 4832" (all SMNK); 1♀, Nepal: 9500', Chautara Dist., Nauling Lekh, 11–20.vi.1983, Allen, Brendell, Robinson, Tuck, Brit. Mus. 1983- 222, Rhodo./ conifer moss forest, gen. slide no. 34175♀, O. Bidzilya ( BMNH).

Description. Adult ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 21 – 27 ): Wingspan 14.0–15.5 mm. Head, thorax and tegulae covered with grey blacktipped scales, frons light grey; labial palpus up-curved, white with broad black basal and subapical belts, inner surface of segment 2 nearly almost white, segment 3 acute, about 1.5 times narrower and shorter than segment 2; scapus black, other antennal segments black, white-ringed; ground colour of forewing white in its middle width, costal margin black to 2/3, with two black spots of irregular shape on base and on 1/3 of costa, prolonged black spot from 1/2 to 2/3 length, dorsal margin mottled with black, black spot on 1/3 lenght in mid- width, three black joined spots surrounded with rare brown scales forms V-shaped pattern in middle of cell, black dot in the corner of cell, angulated white fascia on 3/4 length, termen black-spotted; cilia white; hindwing ligth grey.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 48 – 53 ): Uncus longer than broad, weakly narrowed apically, posterior margin nearly straight; gnathos thin, weakly curved; tegumen moderately borad, anteromedial emargination broadly rounded; valva of equal width to 2/3 length, then inner margin strongly dilated forming triangular lobe, tip of valva long and narrow, extending over the top of uncus; saculus narrow, straight, about 1/4 - 1/3 length of valva; vinculum distinctly broader than long with deeply rounded posteromedial emargination, vincular processes broad, sub-rectangular, outer margin densely haired; saccus broad, triangular; phallus stout, caecum weakly inflated, distal portion parallelsided, apex with big down-curved triangular arm.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 60 – 62 ): Papila analis prolonged, ovate; apophyses posteriores long and narrow; sternite VIII as longer as broad, subgenital plate evenly sclerotized, weakly wrinkled, broadly separated, with narrow sclerotized folder from base to 2/3 length and with two prolonged drop-shaped sclerites extending from the middle of subgenital plate to its anteromedial corner, ventromedial depression covered with microtrichia, subostial sclerites triangular; apophyses anteriores shorter than segment VIII, weakly curved, moderately thick; antrum inflated, strongly sclerotized laterally; ductus bursae broad, comparatively long; corpus bursae ovate, shorter than ductus bursae; signum stout with rounded basal plate covered with small teeth, apical hook weakly curved with a few teeth on base.

Remarks. Kiwaia (E.) kumatai is well recognizable externally by comparatively light, contrast, whitish-grey forewing with well developed characteristic V-shaped black pattern in cell. The male genitalia are most similar to those of K. (E.) povolnyi sp. n., but differ in tip of valvae that is longer, the saccus is broader, the sacculus is narrower and longer. The female genitalia are characterized by large triangular subostial sclerites, comparatively long ductus bursae and presence of paired drop shaped sclerites on the subgenital plates.

Biology. Host plant unknown. Adults have been collected late May–June at altitudes from 2000 m to 2900 m.

Distribution. Nepal.

Notes. Kiwaia (E.) kumatai was described from four specimens (2 males, 2 females) collected in Nepal. The male labelled "Dunche No. 1 West, 30.v.1968 " 'Jp. 4835" is mentioned as holotype in the original description. This specimen is traced in the collection of SMNK and it does bear a holotype label. Moreover the figure 1 in the original description indicates a male holotype. On the other hand a slide "Jp. 4835" is a female, and bears the following label: "Jp. 4835, Empista kumatai Pov. , Holotype, female, det. Dr. Povolný".

It seems more appropriate to consider a male specimen as a holotype of E. kumatai , supposing that female slide No. 4835 has been erroneously labelled as a holotype.
