Amnestus pusio (Stål)

( Fig. 9a View FIGURES 9 A – D )

Magoa pusio Stål, 1860 , p.14

Diagnosis. Juga with four marginal pegs, presence of coarse punctures on the disc of the calli, lack spines or angulation on the ventral margin of the anterior tibiae. Body length 1.82 to 2.02 mm. This species is very similar to A. basidentatus Froeschner , and although females are not easily separated, males of A. pusio lack spines or angulation on the ventral margin of the fore tibiae and thereby differ from the males of A. basidentatus , which have two prominent teeth on the ventral margin of the fore tibiae.

Description. Head. Tylus slightly surpassing juga, latter with four, subequal, marginal pegs; surface coarsely punctated between eyes. Pronotum. Anterior margin feebly concave; lateral margins straight on basal half; transverse impression prominent, with a row of punctures; anterior lobe with large punctures laterally, subapically, medially and scattered over calli; posterior lobe, except umbones, with numerous close-set, coarse punctures. Prosternal carinae about as high as rostral segment II, more or less abruptly terminated posteriorly.

Hemelytron. Mesocorium with several small scattered punctures on disc; exocorium abundantly punctuate across full width. Legs. Anterior femora ventrally with a simple spine, weakly bifid at apex, posteroventral margin with minute, subapical tubercle, hind femora ventrally with prominent, triangular tooth near apex of anteroventral margin.

Female genitalia. Spermatheca with receptacle completely spherical, as in figure 9a.
