Type material. Holotype, 3, TANZANIA, Mpanda District, 55 km S Uvinza on Mpanda Road 1660 m, 9.xi.1990, leg. A. Bjørnstad 22505, genitalia slide 2741 L. Aarvik ( NHMO).

Description. Adult ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 7 – 14 ). Wingspan 10.5 mm. Head: White. Antenna brownish grey, scape white. Labial palpus 1.5 times diameter of eye, grey, dorsal edge white; triangular in lateral view due to scaling on second segment. Thorax: white, black lateral patches; tegulae light brown. Legs pale yellowish, fore- and mid-tibiae greyish, tarsi with paler rings. Forewing upperside with basal 2/3 blackish brown; terminal 1/3 ochreous; on dorsum two white triangular marks, broadly interconnected along dorsum; the inner mark reaching to about 1/2 from dorsum, the distal one triangular, pointing towards apex, reaching to about 2/3 from dorsum. Hind wing upperside light grey; pale ochreous hair-pencil from base of hind margin to scale cover on dorsum of abdomen. Abdomen: Brownish grey, anal tuft pale yellowish. Male genitalia ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 29 – 35 ) with tegumen subtriangular, uncus in form of distally rounded lobe, socii weak; lower edge of sacculus strongly curved, neck of valva narrow, long and straight, cucullus broad, subovate; anellus short; aedeagus ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 29 – 35 ) with angled, broader base, then straight, relatively short and broad, with 11 cornuti and 5 carinae.

Diagnosis. M. andersi externally most closely resembles M. skulei ; the two share two black patches laterally on the thorax. M. andersi differs from M. skulei by its smaller size and the absence of dark scales in the terminal area of the forewing. In the male genitalia the short, broad aedeagus of M. andersi is strikingly different from that of all other known species of Multiquaestia .

Distribution. Tanzania.

Etymology. The species is named after Anders Bjørnstad, who collected the holotype and has contributed much to the knowledge of the Lepidoptera fauna in Tanzania.
