( Figure 1 View FIGURE 1. A )

Material examined. Holotype. male, TL 19.46 mm; Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil: 04º52.84'S; 36º17.83'W; Sta. #06, at 16.9 m; Bpot II, Sta. # 06, May 22 of 2003, DOUFPE 14022. Paratype: 1 male, TL 16.05 mm; Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil: 04º59.94'S; 36º26.80'W; 8.8 m; Bpot III Sta. # E 14, November 15 of 2003, DOUFPE 14154.

Description. Eye almost at same level of the end of antennular peduncle (sunk after preservation). Ocular scales fused, narrow, higher than wide.

Antennular peduncle short, about half carapace length. Longer flagellum with 12 articles, medium with 12 and shorter flagellum with 6 articles. Dorsal antennular process visible dorsally as anteriorly-directed spines projecting beyond sides of rostral plate, overreaching anterolateral corners of plate.

Antennal peduncle short, not extending beyond eye; protopod without papillae; flagellum with 11 articles. Antennal scale short, extending beyond basal segment of peduncle.

Rostral plate subpentagonal, length 1.5 mm. Lateral margin strongly convex; anterolateral corner broadly and obtusely rounded. Anterior margins slightly concave, bluntly pointed apex.

Mandibular palp absent; four epipods present.

Raptorial claw dactylus with 8 teeth and outer margin with two proximal lobes. Inner margin of propodus with four movable spines proximally and 25 long setae along this margin; outer margin pectinated. Carpus with blunt, acute projection, unarmed, at distal end of upper margin.

Pereiopods 1–2 with subcircular endopod. Pereiopod 3 with ovate endopod.

Sixth abdominal somite with posterolateral corner forming acute angle, produced posteroventrally.

Telson short, length 0.68 width, dorsal region smooth. Median projection of posterior margin not prominent, wider than long, apex rounded. Submedian depressions of posterior margin shallow, shorter than lateral margin of telson. Marginal armature of the telson on each side of midline consisting of eight fixed submedian denticles, one movable submedian tooth, near the posterior margin, far from anus; and lateral to submedian tooth, with four fixed teeth, each with an intervening denticle, positioned submarginally.

Uropodal protopod slender and sharp. Inner spine of uropodal protopod longer than outer. Proximal segment of exopod with 3 non-plumouse stiff setae on inner distal corner and graded series of 5 spines on distal outer margin, 4 spatulate. Uropodal endopod with strong dorsal fold.

Size. Total length 19.46 mm; carapace length 4.0 mm; rostral plate length 1.3; antennal scale length 0.8 mm; telson length 1.9 mm, width 2.8 mm (holotype).

Color. Faded and unrecognizable (sample in 70% ethanol).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the type-locality, the Potiguar basin, on Rio Grande do Norte state. Used as a noun in the genitive singular
