( Figures 15–17 View Figures 9–20 , 23 View Figures 21–24 )

Diagnostic remarks

Length 10.5–16.0 mm. Nominate O. accedens differ from nusatenggaricus in having the anterior clypeal border distinctly emarginate-sinuate on either side of the median tooth. On average, their body size is larger. Median vertexal protrusion very low. Major males with slight transversely arcuate crest on anterior side of pronotum. Black, occasionally brown (the holotype is brown), head and pronotum never cupreous; elytra matt, microreticulate, and finely punctate. Parameres rather similar to nusatenggaricus, parts have different proportions ( Figure 23 View Figures 21–24 ). See also previous subgroup diagnosis.

Measurements in mm of specimen figured (Java). Maximum width of head 4.8. Median length of pronotum 6.1, maximum width 8.4. Sutural length of elytra 6.0, maximum width combined 8.9. Body length (head deflexed) slightly over 13 mm.

Comments

The brown female holotype is from Bandung on Java (the place was not given in the original description, but is clear from the collection event label with the type, in Leiden), and agrees with all the series at hand, from west to east Java and from Bali. Most records with ecological data give upland sites and an association with carrion; no records from Central Java. Boucomont (1914) mentioned Lombok , but his record may pertain to nusatenggaricus as defined above; a sympatric occurrence of both forms may be indicative of full species-level status of O. accedens and nusatenggaricus, respectively .

New extralimital data (Java) are given here to settle the limits of the nominate subspecies versus nusatenggaricus.
