Diagnosis: See key above for diagnostic characters.

This species is known only from New Jersey and Virginia, but likely has a wider distribution. Stibick (1991) states that it is closely related to P. beckeri , and I find that it is also quite similar to Paradonus obliquatulus ( Melsheimer, 1845) . I have examined three paratypes and the allotype of this species from MCZC and USNM. The two MCZC paratypes of P. jerseiensis are in the Horn Collection mixed with P. obliquatulus specimens. This species is likely confused under other names in most collections.
