Type material

Holotype female, CHINA: Tibet, Bowo (Bomi) County, N 29°53’, E 95° 45’, 14 August 2002, Ming­Sheng Zhu, Feng Zhang, Jun­Xia Zhang, Zhi­Sheng Zhang leg. Paratypes: 3 females and 3 males, 6 juvenile females and 2 juvenile males, same data as holotype. ( MHBU).

Diagnosis

This species can be easily distinguished from other species by female anterior epigynal margin sclerotized weakly and M­shaped, anteriorly copulatory ducts long (Fig. 16); male pedipalpus with a horn­shaped median apophysis in ventral view and pelmashaped in lateral view, embolus thin, long, and stick­shaped (Fig. 18).

Etymology

The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality.

Description

Female (holotype): Total length 8.46. Carapace 2.79 long, 4.50 wide; opisthosoma 5.76 long, 5.94 wide. Carapace orange. All eyes circular in shape. Anterior eye row slightly recurved, posterior eye row recurved (Fig. 14). Eye diameters: AME 0.15, ALE 0.13, PME 0.13, PLE 0.18. Distances between eyes: AME–AME 0.08, AME–ALE 0.13, PME–PME 0.23, PME–PLE 0.28. MOA 0.40 long, front width 0.38, back width 0.49. Chelicerae with three promarginal and three retromarginal teeth. Clypeus, endites light yellow brown. Sternum light orange, with brown margins. Legs I–III red brown, legs IV greyish brown. Leg formula 2341.

Leg measurements of Plator bowo sp. nov., female.

Opisthosoma oval, widest at middle. Dorsum grey yellow, clothed with small paddle hairs and sparse dark setae bearing spinules. Six spinnerents. Epigynum with anterior margin sclerotized weakly and M­shaped, copulatory ducts long anteriorly and spermathecae with lateral heads (Figs 16–17).

Male total length 6.30. Carapace 2.43 long, 3.60 wide; opisthosoma 4.05 long, 4.05 wide. Carapace orange. Eye diameters: AME 0.14, ALE 0.13, PME 0.13, PLE 0.15. Distances between eyes: AME–AME 0.05, AME–ALE 0.05, PME–PME 0.19, PME–PLE 0.20. MOA 0.35 long, front width 0.33, back width 0.43. Appearance of opisthosoma and legs as female, but opisthosomal coloration grey. RTA of pedipalpus relatively long, directed forward. Median apophysis horn­shaped in ventral view and pelma­shaped in lateral view. Embolus thin, long, and stick­shaped (Figs 18–19).
