Material studied. Holotype male. MADAGASCAR, Ambohitantely , 18°11’44’’N, 47°17’E, 1598-1641 m, flight interception trap, 5–8.I.2017, P. Baňař (in MMBC) GoogleMaps . Paratypes. MADAGASCAR, same data as holotype, 1 male (in MMBC) GoogleMaps ; same data but 18°11’44’’N, 47°17’14’’E, 1636 m, 6–8.I.2017, 2 males (in MMBC) GoogleMaps ; same data as previous but 1641 m, 5–8.I.2017, 1 male (in MMBC) GoogleMaps ; same data as previous but 18°11’52’’N, 47°17’06’’E, 1604 m, 4 males (2 in JSL-OUC, 2 in MZH) GoogleMaps .

DNA sequences. The DNA sequence of COI barcode region taken from the holotype is deposited in GenBank. The Accession Number is provided in Table 1 View TABLE 1 .

Description. Male. Head. Brown, antenna concolorous with face, maxillary palpus pale brown. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. Face with 8–10 dark long setae. Clypeus non-setose. Mouthparts strongly reduced. Maxillary palpus with one segment, with 2–4 pointed setae, with a large dorsal patch of sensilla. Antenna short, antennal flagellomeres laterally flattened, asymmetrical in relation to their necks, frontal part larger; densely setose, setae curved, body of 4th flagellomere 1.1– 2x as long as wide, the longest setae much shorter than the width of the flagellomere, neck shorter than wide. Thorax. In poor condition in the specimens studied. Brown and unicolorous; setae dark. Wing, Fig 2 E View FIGURE 2 . Fumose. Length 1.7–2.2 mm. Width/length 0.50–0.55. Anal lobe small. Hind margin with dorsal setae only. Veins distinct. R1/R 1.15–1.65. c/w 0.80–0.85. bM as long as r-m or longer,, stM longer than M-fork, stCu as long as or longer than bM. R1 joining c before base of M-fork. R1 with dorsal setae, bM, r-m and StCu nonsetose. Haltere pale brown. Legs. Yellow. Fore tibial organ unmodified, with some fine setae. Fore tibial spur longer than the tibial width. Abdomen. Pale brown; setae long, dark, and robust. Hypopygium, Figs 4 B View FIGURE 4 , 9 A View FIGURE 9 . Brown, like the abdomen, broad; setae dark. Gonocoxa broad, as long as gonostylus. Gonocoxae fused, ventromedial margin distinct, intergonocoxal area broad and short, microtrichose, narrowly non-setose medially. Setosity of gonocoxa long and dense. Apicomedial seta poorly differentiated. Gonostylus slightly elongated, rather tumid, impressed dorso- and ventromedially, with broad medial lobe, with long, narrow and curved apical tooth with a small megaseta attached to its ventral side, with 10–12 megasetae on the lobe, the megasetae slender and hyalinous, slightly curved. Tegmen broader than long, straight apically, curved laterally, hyalinous but weakly sclerotized laterally, with tiny aedeagal teeth. Aedeagal apodeme distinct and long, with robust apical fork.

Female. Unknown.

Discussion. Pseudoaerumnosa consuota sp. n. is very similar to P. saginata sp. n., both having a broad gonostylus with smoothly curved medial lobe and a short gonocoxa. Pseudoaerumnosa consuota differs from P. saginata in having a slightly more slender gonostylus with a longer apical tooth and slightly longer megasetae. Pseudoaerumnosa consuota is also somewhat smaller (wing length 1.7–2.2 mm versus 2.4–2.5 mm in P. saginata ).

Etymology. The name is Latin, consuota , stuffed, referring to the large number of gonostylar megasetae.
