The synonymising of Pulicimyia with Puliciphora (see above) and the resulting transfer of species means that Puliciphora modesta (Borgmeier) comb. nov. (see below) creates a homonym with the Afrotropical P. modesta (Disney) . The latter is therefore renamed P. etiamodesta .
