Description. With two color forms. Specimens from Menglun and Munai ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e r–u) with ground color yellow, face ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e u) light whitish-brown, hind part of pronotum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e t) yellowish-smoky, apical half of forewing ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e r, s) pale, veins orange. Specimens from other localities ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e n–q) orange, hind part of vertex and scutellum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e p) lighter, midline of face ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1. a – e q) orange, sides sordid yellow.
Male 2S abdominal apodemes ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 c) nearly reaching hind margin of fourth sternite. Anal tube appendage ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 f) straight, apex sharp.
Pygofer side ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 d) with few fine setae at lower basal angle and central lobe; pygofer dorsal appendage bent outward, ventral appendage short and straight. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 i) usually with 2 macrosetae at subapical angle, compressed apical part relatively short. Style ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 j, k) with apical part curved mesad, with serrated inner edge subapically, preapical lobe small. Connective ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 l) broad, without ridge on midline. Aedeagal shaft ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 m, n) short, sinuated, preatrium rectangular in side view, distal part large, almost circular in ventral view.
Measurements. Orange individuals, male length 3.1–3.3mm; yellow individuals, male length 3.4mm, female length 3.4mm.
Material examined. Holotype: 3, CHINA, Yunnan Prov., Jinghong, Yexianggu, light trap, 30. viii. 2010, coll. Zhang Meng. Paratypes: 43, same data as holotype; 23, Yunnan Prov., Jinghong, Bubeng, light trap, 3–4. ix. 2010, coll. Zhang Meng; 23, Yunnan Prov., Menglun, 570m, 9. xii. 1999, coll. I. Dworakowska; 2♀, Yunnan Prov., Lancang, Munai, 1100m, 2. xii. 1999, coll. I. Dworakowska; 103, Yunnan Prov., Sanchahe, 7. vi. 1991, coll. Tian Rungang.
Deposition. Entomological Museum, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, China.
Diagnosis. Similar to T. nigroscutellatus in view of shape of pygofer ventral appendage and style, but can be distinguished by wider connective and shorter aedeagal shaft.
Etymology. This new specific epithet is derived from the Latin word “ versicolor ” in view of two different colors of specimens.
