Thisiomorphus brasiliensis , new species

Holotype, male, labeled: “ BRAZIL, Amazonas Coroado, Manaus [-3.117212, -60.021798] 23 Ap. 25 May 1972 E.G., I. and E.A. Munroe // [large red label] HOLOTYPE ♂ Thisiomorphus brasiliensis Pollock ”, in CNC.

Paratypes: 1 male, with same label data as holotype, in CNC; 1 male, labeled: “ BRAZIL, Amazonas, Reserva Ducke [-2.952184, -59.927082], km. 26 Manaus-Itacoatiara Highway 23 Ap. 25 May 1972 E.G., I.&E.A. Munroe”, in CNC.

Derivation of specific epithet. named after the country of origin of all known specimens ( Brasil).

Diagnosis. members of this species exhibit the following diagnostic features: body uniformly dark, brown to piceous, contrasting the lighter rufotestaceous antennae; pronotum distinctly wider than long, lateral margins arcuate, and with paired, oblique depressions on the disk.

Description. Measurements (mm, N=3): HL = 0.88; PL = 0.80–0.84; EL = 2.80–3.08; GHW = 1.08–1.16; GPW = 1.20–1.28; GEW = 2.00–2.08; TL = 4.48–4.80. Ratios: EL/GEW = 1.40–1.48; GPW/PL = 1.50–1.52; TL/ GEW = 2.23–2.31; GPW/GHW = 1.07–1.11. With characters of Thisiomorphus , and the following:

Body modately ovate (TL/GEW 2.26), lateral elytral margins slightly arcuate.

Color. Antennae with all antennomeres rufotestaceous; maxillary palpi rufotestaceous; head and pronotum concolorous, dark rufous to piceous; elytra dark rufous to piceous, slightly lighter in color than forebody; legs uniformly rufotestaceous, same color as antennae; venter uniformly dark rufous to piceous.

Antennae relatively elongate; antennomeres 3–7 filiform; antennomeres 8–10 relatively elongate, slightly expanded distally.

Pronotum distinctly wider than long (GPW/PL 1.51), very slightly wider than head (GPW/GHW 1.09); lateral margins distinctly arcuate, widest about midlength; hind angles not protruding; dorsal surface with relatively shallow, paired depressions.

Male genitalia. Parameres slightly shorter than basale, inner margins slightly sinuate basally; basale with anterior margin curved, lateral margins with short, shallow emargination at about half length. Distribution. All three specimens are known from BRAZIL (Amazonas).
