Diagnosis. Males of Trebacosa marxi can be differentiated from those of T. europaea by the massive and wide median apophysis, 1.2 times longer than wide ( Fig. 23 , see also Szinetár & Kancsal 2007b: fig. 6; Dondale & Redner 1981: fig. 2). Females can be distinguished by the large vulval chamber, which has a diameter about twice as large as the head of spermatheca ( Fig. 4 ).

Material examined. CANADA: Ontario: Oliver Bog , 3 km S. Galt, June–July 1987, pitfall trap, D. Blades coll, 1 male, 1 female (CASENT) . USA: Massachusetts: Quisett, shrub sphagnum, 1981, 1 male, 1 female (CASENT).
