Trechus breuili Jeannel 1913 View in CoL

( Figs. 1–3)

Redescription: Length (from tip of mandible to apex of elytron): 5.0– 5.3 mm. Head (to anterior end of clypeus) slightly wider than long; in dorsal view two deep frontal sulci border ocular areas on both sides and fronto-clypeal area towards the center. Microphthalmic (eyes clearly reduced and not convex). Tempora slightly longer than eyes. Antennae filiform, densely setulose, in particular from 2nd to 11th antennomeres. Mandible prominent, sharp. Labial and maxillary palps typical for the genus. Cephalic chaetotaxy: two pairs of supraocular setae (anterior and posterior; posterior setae located behind the posterior margin of the eye); two setae at both sides of clypeus (outer one largest); six setae on labrum, lateral setae more elongate; one seta in the sulcus of each mandible. Pronotum one third wider than long, with the sides very slightly sinuous in basal third; maximum width in the approximate middle; basal margin very slightly concave; basal foveae smooth and deep; hind angles almost right. Disk convex, divided longitudinally by central sulcus branching off towards anterior and posterior angles. Lateral channel of regular width. Pronotal chaetotaxy: one anterior seta on each side (almost in the first quarter) and one posterior seta next to hind angle. Elytra ovate with subparallel sides; approximately three times longer than wide (from lateral margin to elytral suture); humeral margin weakly defined, basally oblique. Disk convex; eight well-defined striae clearly stippled. Elytral chaetotaxy: marginal umbilical series typical of Trechus (humeral area with four equidistant setae; subapical area with four setae, two anterior and two posterior). Each elytron with one setigerous pore beginning at 2nd stria (scutellar pore), two discal setae in the 3rd stria (anterior seta in anterior fifth and posterior setae exceeding slightly the half), subapical seta present at end of 2nd stria, two smaller ones near apical margin. Without developed wings (rudimentary). Legs long and slender; foretibia with a longitudinal sulcus; first two tarsal segments of male foreleg dilated. Aedeagus 1.0 mm long, with the median lobe almost straight (not arched), apex long and narrowed; apical lamina asymmetrically curved to the left ( Fig. 3 View Figs ). Inner sac very simple with a triangular lamina (arrow-shaped); second lamina (in lateral view) narrowed, punch-shaped with the distal extreme slightly curved ( Fig. 2 View Figs ). Parameres subsymmetrical (of different lengths), both tetrasetulose in distal extreme ( Fig. 2 View Figs ).
