Triplocania fapeam View in CoL n. sp. (Male)

( Figs 44–50 View FIGURES 44 – 50 )

Diagnosis. Close to T. erwini Silva Neto, Rafael & García Aldrete , in forewing pigmentation pattern and hypandrium structure. Differing from it by the structure of the phallosome, by having the side sclerites of the hypandrium much smaller than the central one, by having the posterior processes of the central sclerite of the hypandrium longer and closer to each other than in T. erwini , and in lacking the lateral posterior processes of the latter.

Color. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; head pattern ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ). Scape pale brown and pedicel pale yellow, f1–f2 yellow, with apex white. Mx4 pale yellow with distal end pale brown. Femora pale yellow; tibiae pale yellow with distal end pale brown; tarsomeres 1–3 yellow. Forewing with a brown marginal band from R2+3 to areola postica, this with a small dark brown spot proximally, and a brown spot between its apex and M, a brown spot between Rs and branching of M, a brown area along CuA and touching CuP, a whitish area at confluence of CuP–1A, and a dark brown spot near the end of the 1A; a brown spot on 2A and touching proximally 1A; pterostigma with a clear fenestra anteriorly and other in the middle with a brown area between them, and a dark brown spot posteriorly; veins brown, with dark brown spots at wing margin ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ). Hindwing almost hyaline, with small dark brown spots distally on veins M, R2+3 and R4+5;veins brown ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ).

Morphology. Compound eyes without interommatidial setae. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with five denticles ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ). Forewing pterostigma almost triangular, narrow basally; Rs slightly convex, R2+3 and R4+5 sinuous, M stem slightly concave proximally, then almost straight, M1, M2 and M3 very sinuous; areola postica tall, with round apex, slightly slanted posteriorly, 2A not touching the wing margin. Hindwing Rs straight, R2+3 straight, R4+5 almost straight, M sinuous. Hypandrium of three sclerites, a large central piece, this anteriorly almost straight, with antero-lateral corners pointed, outer posterior margins concave proximally, then convex, ending in two stout posterior projections, leaving between them a V-shaped concavity; flanked by stout sclerites, this with outer edge wide, narrowing at the inner edge, this acuminate; setae as illustrated ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ). Phallosome ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ) with side struts independent, V shaped, fused posteriorly to external parameres, these stout, each with a field of pores mesally on outer margin. Mesal sclerite, wide, strongly sclerotized, anteriorly with two small blunt projections, leaving between them a small concavity, with antero-lateral corners projected, elongated, narrowing to end, distally acuminate, posteriorly with a convex area in the middle, with two postero-lateral acuminate projections, a small on inner margin and other on outer margin, elongated, distally curved inwards. Four pairs of endophallic sclerites, an anterior pair, stout, almost rectangular, wide basally, with sides slightly narrowing posteriorly; an antero-lateral pair, elongated, curved, basally narrow, widening to the middle, narrowing at the ends; a postero-lateral pair, sinuous, basally narrow, curved outwards distally, close to the ends of the external parameres; posterior pair, on the ends of the external parameres, small, strongly sclerotized, divided into two areas by a constriction in the middle, a smaller area posteriorly acuminate, with a tooth on inner margin, and the other area with five acuminate projections. Epiproct almost semi-circular, three setae in mesal position, other setae as illustrated ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ). Paraprocts broadly semi-elliptic, sensory fields with 26 trichobothria on basal rosettes, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ).
