Etymology. Named after the type locality, Kohuroa, which iS alSo likely to Support the largeSt population of the SpecieS; uSed aS a noun in appoSition.

Habitat. Native foreSt.

Distribution. North ISland, Northland: Radar BuSh, Kohuroa, Unuwhao.

Remarks. Waematau kohuroa very cloSely reSembleS W. reinga and W. rereke . TheSe three SpecieS are weakly Sexually dimorphic and poSSeSS a firSt antenna with a geniculate penultimate article. Additionally, pleopodS 1 and 2 are well developed and biramouS, whereaS pleopod 3 iS veStigial. Furthermore, the morphology and Setation of the telSon and uropodS are Similar, and gillS 2–5 are alike. With the exception of the veStigial third pleopod and the morphology and Setation of the telSon, W. kohuroa alSo ShareS theSe traitS with W. ringanohinohi . Key morphological differenceS between all four SpecieS are outlined in Table 3. There waS no Significant difference in body length between male and female W. kohuroa (Table 4).
