( Figures 3D View FIGURE 3 , 16 View FIGURE 16 and 63E View FIGURE 63 )

Specimen examined: Holotype: China: China, N. Hunan, 4.–7.VII, Wuling Shan , 29.4 N 110.4 E, Zhangjiajie, - 700m, Jaroslav Turna leg. 2003 (♂, RGCM).

Measurements: (1 specimen measured) Total length: 8.1mm, elytral length: 5.3mm, elytral width: 2.4mm, pronotal length: 2.1mm, pronotal width: 1.8mm, head width: 1.8mm.

Head: Black, cranium densely vested with shorter setae, with indistinct punctation, interstices about one diameter of punctures; posterior part of clypeus dark red-brown to black, margins black, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part dark red-brown to black, wrinkled, smooth centrally; antennae red-brown, antennomeres gradually decreasing in length from A3 towards A8, terminal antennomere as long as preceding three ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ), antennae not reaching base of pronotum when laid back; gular sutures diverging apically, gular process narrow, slightly dilated terminally.

Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.1:1; pronotum black, vested with short yellowish setae, pronotal arch with very indistinct punctation, interstices larger than one diameter of punctures, pronotum proper with coarse and dense punctation, punctation often merging to longitudinal wrinkles; prosternum redbrown, smooth; mesosternum red-brown, margins darkened, vested with yellowish setae; metasternum redbrown, vested with fine setae, punctation sparse and fine; anterior metasternal process with two strongly scleotized, ventrally projecting, edges; scutellum circular but flattened anteriorly, colored like surrounding elytra.

Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.2:1; basal third red, followed by a narrow yellow fascia, postmedian fascia broad, black, near apex another yellow fascia, but elytral suture here darkened, extreme apex black, subcutaneous structures visible through red and yellow areas, vested with short decumbent and longer erect setae, punctation relatively small, striae 1 to 3 obsolete with beginning of yellow fascia, striae 4 to 7 crossing postmedian black fascia, striae 8 to 10 weaker, interstices between striae at least one, but often two, puncture diameters, interstices within striae about one half diameter of punctures; punctation not rasp-like, carinated in apical half along striae, especially distinct along striae 6 and 7.

Legs: Red-brown, coxa, trochanter and basal half of femora yellow; tarsal pulvilli pale; metatibiae more or less straight, anterior and posterior face of each tibia carinate, carination dark red-brown, distinct, especially on metatibia.

Abdomen: Ventrites dark red-brown, vested with fine yellowish setae; male pygidium roundish, lateral margins slightly converging, arms short; male ventrite 6 with broad U-shaped slight emargination. Male genitalia ( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 ): Tegmen apically dilated, sinus deeply V-shaped; phallic plates extremely narrow, tip broadened and strongly sclerotized, with a horizontal furrow; spicular fork dividing into two branches after quarter of length.

Distribution: China (Hunan).

Seasonal occurrence: Collected in July.

Etymology: This species is dedicated to Bernd Eberle, the junior author’s father.
